"Mr. David Van Os is a champion of the people who believes in their cause. His dedication to the fact of law and to the just service of his clients is truly from the heart and the Deputy Sheriffs Association of Bexar County is proud to give its endorsement to an advocate of the people."

Avery D. Walker, President Deputy Sheriffs Association of Bexar County

May 9, 2006

We are pleased to announce that the Texas State AFL-CIO has endorsed David Van Os during their recent annual convention. This is strong recognition of David's unswerving support for and work with the Labor Movement for nearly 30 years.

"The labor movement is that of the working people. I am honored by the support of my sisters and brothers in the labor movement. The AFL-CIO is the one of the strongest voices of justice for working people in Texas. Together in this year's election, we'll reclaim government for the people."

We are pleased to announce that the Hispanic Bar Association of Austin has endorsed David Van Os for Texas Attorney General. David proudly accepts the endorsement of the HBAA with the following statement:

"The Hispanic Bar Association of Austin is one of the oldest and most active Hispanic bar associations in Texas. The HBAA and its members are well known for their commitment to justice for the Hispanic community. Their endorsement of my candidacy is both an honor and a responsibility. I pledge to honor this endorsement with my unswerving continued commitment to justice, equality, and dignity under the rule of law and Constitutional government."

With pleasure we announce that the Austin Black Lawyers Association has endorsed David Van Os for Texas Attorney General. David states as follows as he proudly accepts the endorsement of the ABLA:

"The Austin Black Lawyers Association has been in the forefront of the pursuit of justice for the African-American community for many years. Its activities in support of the community are numerous and well known. Their endorsement of my candidacy is both an honor and a responsibility. I pledge to honor this endorsement with my unswerving continued commitment to justice, equality, and dignity under the rule of law and Constitutional government."

These endorsements include that of the statewide Tejano Democrats at their recent Screening and Endorsement Convention held in Houston. DavidÕs statement in acceptance of this endorsement is as follows:

"The Tejano Democrats are one of the most progressive forces in Texas politics. Their pursuit of justice, equality, and empowerment through the political process for the historically disenfranchised Latino populations of Texas never wavers. Further, Tejano Democrats never confine themselves to narrow interest-group activities. They are unswerving advocates for universal democracy, justice, and human rights for all. I proudly accept the Tejano DemocratsÕ endorsement. Gladly I take my place as one of their allies in putting an end to greedy, corrupt Radical Republican dictatorship in the new revolution that the people of Texas must fight and win at the ballot boxes this year."

The Texas State Council of Machinists, International Association of Machinists, AFL-CIO, endorsed David at their state conference in Austin. David states:

"The Machinists have been a progressive, dynamic voice for justice for working people for many decades. It is indeed an honor to be granted their endorsement in my mission to place a peopleÕs lawyer in the Attorney Generalship of Texas. The working people of Texas are entitled to be restored to their rightful positions as not merely negotiators for a "place" at the table, but as equal part owners of the table itself. Democracy belongs to all, not just to the privileged few; and I am proud to be allied with the great International Association of Machinists in reclaiming for the people of this great state the full democracy to which they are entitled."

The Austin Stonewall Democrats, the Stonewall Democrats of San Antonio, and the Austin Gay-Lesbian Political Caucus have also endorsed David. In accepting the endorsements of these organizations that are in the forefront of the struggle for justice for gay Texans, David states as follows:

"As in my recent vocal opposition to the passage of Proposition 2, I will always fight against discrimination against any class or group of citizens. It is a simple truth that in our Constitutional democracy every citizen is a 100% equal part owner of the government, and this means everybody. I am humbled by the endorsements of these organizations that are strong voices for equality and justice for gay Texans. Until my dying day I will fight for the full rights of equal justice under law for every human being in our society."

In response to other recent endorsements by the North East Bexar County Democrats, the West Austin Democrats, and the South Austin Democrats, David states:

"A moral obligation rests upon the Democratic Party to provide the leadership to rescue Texas from the power elites that control it today and restore our state to its people. The dedicated grassroots activists in the community Democratic clubs are at the forefront of that mission, and I am very proud to receive their endorsements and to be accepted as their ally. Together, we will win the battle to restore democracy on behalf of our fellow Texas citizens."

Van Os Receives "A" Rating from NRA

We are pleased to announce that David Van Os has been awarded an "A" rating by the National Rifle Association/Texas Rifle Association based on their screening and review. This is strong recognition of David's unswerving support for individual Constitutional liberties such as the Second Amendment.

"Our nation's founders placed the right of the people to keep and bear arms at a high rank in the Bill of Rights for a reason," said Van Os. "The Second Amendment was crafted by the founders as a fundamental stipulation to enable the people to protect themselves from tyranny if necessary, and I support it unswervingly."

January 27, 2006 [as quoted in the Texas Observer]

"For another example, this year, in my opinion—shared, by the way, by Jim Hightower—Texans are very fortunate to have running for Attorney General the lifelong labor lawyer and Democratic firebrand David Van Os of San Antonio. The Observer does not make political endorsements, but I may say here for myself alone that David, in my carefully considered personal judgment, is the Ralph Yarborough of his generation."

~Ronnie Dugger, political writer and journalist,
former publisher and editor of the Texas Observer

September 16, 2005

"David Van Os will fight for the people against the special interests. He is a genuine, old-fashioned Texas truth-teller who says what he means and means what he says. He is an authentic voice of the people in the proud tradition of Texas populists of the past like Jim Hogg and Ralph Yarborough. With David as the Attorney General of Texas, the people will have a lawyer who represents them for a change. I enthusiastically support David Van Os to serve as our next Attorney General, and I urge you to help put him there."

~Jim Hightower

July 24, 2005

"Last Monday the Meyerland Area Democrats had the extreme privilege of having David Van Os as our guest speaker. With a packed house and standing room only, David gave a speech that educated, inspired and motivated all of us. When it comes to the Texas constitution and Texas law, no one knows it better than David Van Os. MADC members and guests gave almost $600 to help with David's campaign for Texas Attorney General."
